It’s that time of year when we will have many celebs telling us to try this and that for weight loss, bikini ready DVD’s and skinny pills and even teas!
When you’ve overindulged at Christmas and a New Year is fast approaching it’s easy to get caught up in the latest craze, to be pulled in by a celebrity showing us a super slim figure telling us how she got it, how easy it was and you can look like that too!
It was documented this last year alone that one reality star who came out with a fitness dvd that she almost starved herself and went off to an extreme Bootcamp in preparation for it, she has now piled all the weight back on, another has just been caught saying she’s never used the skinny product she was promoting as having helped her get her slimmer figure!
So don’t be fooled by those who are in it for the money, putting their name on false promises!
If you really want to feel better about yourself it may seem boring but it takes time to get in better shape, it takes commitment.
The best advice I can give is, it’s not a race, it’s not a quick fix you need but changing one small thing at a time, if you want to lose inches and feel better in your clothes then make some changes in what you eat, not all at once but start with cutting out some things, for me going low carb definitely works, so replacing bread, pasta, rice, crisps even with more vegetables like cauliflower and broccoli, you can make mash from both of these. But find what works for you.
I also found taking alcohol out of the equation worked - after all, it is wasted calories! Maybe it’s time to reassess why you drink! If it’s emotional drinking, stress drinking or one never
stops at one, maybe this is the time to ask yourself if you could stop for a bit, if not then why not? Cutting back on alcohol consumption is a start.
Then there’s move more! For many the reason they can’t lose weight is their calorie consumption is far higher than what they are burning, make a plan for the next month ahead, don’t look at the rest of the year just take the month of January and decide what you are going to do, what classes you are going to commit to and stick to it!
Break the month down into weeks and make a plan and decide it’s non negotiable it’s your commitment to yourself and sign it!
Then go from there, one week, one month at a time.
So next time you read or see the promises of pills, potions and teas don’t be fooled!
Anything that promises a quick fix, is just that! It’s not sustainable, it’s not a long term solution, if you want to maintain a healthy, happy balanced lifestyle then it’s simple - eat well, all the food groups balanced together and exercise.
Find one small change, then add another and so on and before you know it, you will feel better, look better and find your happy place again!
Let’s get stuck into January together and most importantly enjoy the journey!
